We’re just over six weeks away from the fabulous 21st Century ABBA at Wickham Festival on the 3rd August, and we thought it was the perfect time to catch up with Nina - 21st Century ABBA’s very own Agnetha - to talk about her top ABBA moments, her favourite songs to sing, and why she can’t wait to perform at Wickham festival.
Hi Nina, thanks for taking the time to chat with us! We love the music of ABBA at Superb Productions and can’t wait to dance the night away to you on the 3rd August! Can you tell us what you love about performing with 21st Century ABBA?
I can honestly say it’s the people that I work with - they are so talented. They are outstanding musicians, and it’s a pleasure to hear them playing the songs. Indrija [Anni-Frid] - her voice is just so rich. We work really well together, its a pleasure to sing with her and to perform together.
Although it’s hard to pick a top ABBA song, everyone seems to have a favourite! What is your favourite ABBA song to perform?
It changes all the time and it depends on my mood. At the moment, it’s The Winner Takes It All. It is a classic! Sometimes it can be very difficult to sing, in that it is an emotional song. Thank You For The Music is similar, it can be very emotional to sing. But you know, Dancing Queen always gets everybody going and to see the delight on people’s faces when we play it, that has to be up there as well.
We love that audiences of all ages love ABBA! What has been your favourite response from audience members so far?
Every audience is different - there’s always something special about every audience, you never have a bad gig. But I think the one that stays in my head is seeing a mosh pit during Voulez-Vous at a festival , which you don’t normally get!
Is there an ABBA song that you love listening to outside of performing with 21st Century ABBA, or do you perform all your favourite songs already?
That’s a really interesting question that i’ve never been asked before. Obviously we try and fit as many hits into our set as possible, because we never want anybody to go away feeling that that they didn’t hear their favourite ABBA song. But there are so many amazing ABBA songs! It’s always a pleasure to listen to songs that you don’t always hear, like ‘Eagle’, or ‘I Am The City’ - they aren’t as well known, but they are expertly crafted.
What are you most looking forward to about performing at Wickham Festival?
We can’t wait to perform at the Wickham Festival - we’re really honoured to be a part of it. Hopefully it will be wonderful weather but even if it’s not, we’ll be putting on our best show and playing all the songs everyone knows and loves. We love it when people dress up, we love it when people sing along - we just can’t wait to see everybody and perform for you all!
Thanks so much Nina, we will see you there!
