The team here at Superb Productions can’t wait to bring 21st Century ABBA to Wickham festival, and with only five weeks to go we’re counting down the days! We decided to sit down with the Superb Production directors Frank and Mike to catch up on all things ABBA.
Can you tell us a bit about Superb Productions?
Frank: Superb Productions is a joint venture between Mike Williams and myself, Frank Dixie. Mike and I are not just old friends but also fellow musicians. Our love of the arts has inspired us to diversify into the world of musical production.
You’ve had several successful productions previously, including Rock In The Dock, an epic battle between two amazing tribute acts performing the hits of Rod Stewart and Robbie Williams. What made you decide that the next event would be a celebration of ABBA?
Mike: Quite simply ABBA has been our one of our targets for a long time. We both love their music but until now we have not found an ABBA tribute band that we wanted to work with.
So why was 21st Century ABBA the right band for this show?
Frank: Easy answer. They are superb both in musicianship and vocals. Close your eyes and it could be the real thing.
What can audiences at Wickham festival expect?
Mike: They can expect great music and great choreography.
Finally, I have to ask you - what’s the ABBA song you’re most looking forward to singing along to on Thursday 3rd August?
Frank: My favourite ABBA song is Waterloo.
Mike: Mine is Thank You For The Music!
